Parks
We aren't shy to tell you Charles City is a beautiful place, and one of the reasons for this is our park system. Beside the city parks, there's an organization credited with beautifying Charles City for more then 100 years. The City Improvement Association owns, operates, and maintains more then 15 parks in Charles City. Add up their work and the parks owned by the City, and we have more than 300 acres of park space for public use.

Library
Looking for a good book to read under a tree? Head over to the Charles City Public Library. The library has several computers for Internet access, a computerized card catalog, and a children's room full of kids' books. Oh, and since we're talking about kids; there's oodles of programs just for their reading tastes. From summer programs to read-a-longs, and book discussions for adults, we're looking after the entire family's reading needs.

TLC: Child Care
Cutting edge is what you'll notice the moment you walk in the door. From the security to enter the building, to the educational programs for newborns, this children's day care center is top notch. The center has partnered with the University of Northern Iowa to plan developmental activities for of children 0-2, a first of its kind partnership in Iowa. They even have kid sized rooms, with small chairs, small sinks, and kid sized toilets.

Educational quality is job one in Iowa, and the quality of education is clear in Charles City. We're wired for technology and students are introduced to computers early in their education. We've been named a GRAMMY award winning school for our excellent music department. Our activities include everything from A to Z. Newspaper, yearbook, football, tennis, golf, band, choir, drama, FFA, student council, you name it. You can find it in Charles City. But let's talk about academics. Our students outscore the state's ACT average in math, reading, science, and overall composite score, and when it's time to use those scores for higher education Charles City has a satellite campus for North Iowa Area Community College.

Airport
Getting to and from your destination is easy in Charles City. Just hop in a plane and fly to where you want to go. The Charles City Municipal Airport features a 4,000-foot hard-surfaced runway, as well as two shorter grass runways. Charter a flight, rent a plane, or have your client fly right into America's Hometown, it's up to you.
Avenue of the Saints
Maybe driving is more your cup of tea. Well you can't be more connected than in Charles City. The Avenue of the Saints (linking St. Paul and St. Louis) runs right along Charles City. The 65 mph highway has three entrances to Charles City.

Floyd County Memorial Hospital
Modern health care is the name of the game at Floyd County Memorial Hospital. The Mayo affiliated 55-bed hospital just completed a major expansion. FCMH is home to a number of Mayo clinics and provides many outpatient services. The hospital's partnership with the Rochester, MN based medical facility allows for air-care transfers for emergencies. The helicopter can be in Charles City in 20 minutes.
Safety

24/7 safety is what we have to offer… what can be better than that? It's not something many town's the size of Charles City can offer. Our fire department is staffed by eight full time firemen and 18 volunteers. The local fire station houses a pumper, aerial truck, a rescue boat and emergency ski-do watercraft on hand. Also housed at the fire station is one of the premier safety vehicles in Charles City. The sheriff department's Multi-Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV). It responds to fires, accidents, and assists all law enforcement and safety personnel. Local law enforcement is handled by the Charles City Police Department, who are also first responders, trained to assist the local ambulance crew. Charles City is served by American Medical Response that provides emergency response and transfer services. The partnership between the fire station personnel and the EMT's provides lighting fast response times to emergencies.

Newspaper – The local newspaper is the Charles City Press. A daily newspaper covering Charles City and Floyd County. The paper is circulated in the morning and is the finest source for local news.

Radio
– Charles City's own radio stations are the River 95.9 FM and 1580 AM. Locally operated, the stations carry live programming and special broadcasts of high school sporting events.

Television
– Charles City is served by two different television markets, Northern Iowa/Southern Minnesota and Eastern Iowa. News coverage for Charles City is mainly found on KIMT (Channel 3) a CBS affiliate located in Mason City, and KWWL (Channel 7) a NBC affiliate located in Waterloo.

Cable TV
– Medicacom serves Charles City with cable TV, Qwest also offers digital TV service through DirecT
