William J. Learn

CHARLES CITY, Iowa - William J. Learn, 28, of Charles City, IA, died Monday, (September 17, 2007) at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday (September 21, 2007) at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., in Charles City, with Pastor Mike McAbee offciating.

 A gathering of  relatives and friends will be from 11:00 until the 1:00 p.m. memorial service Friday at Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home in Charles City. William Joseph Learn was born January 7, 2007 in New Hampton, IA to John A. and Kathy A. (Clarkin) Learn. He grew up in Charles City, IA and attended and graduated from the Charles City High School, class of 1997. William furthered his education having earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree and was currently enrolled as a student in the Criminal Justice Program at Hamilton College in Mason City. William was affectionately known as “Bulldog” by close friends and family. William was very family oriented and he enjoyed the company of small children. His interests included the craft of chain maille and wood carving. William also enjoyed listening to music, “hangin’ out” with his buddies, fishing, hunting and shooting guns. William will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. 

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing in William’s life are his mother, Kathy A. Learn of Charles City; his sister, Linda A. Learn of Charles City; his maternal grandmother, Annette Clarkin of LaCrosse, WI; as well as numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Preceding William in death are his father, John A. Learn on February 13, 2006; paternal grandparents, Robert A. and Dorothy F. (Sweet) Learn; his maternal grandfather, Francis Clarkin;  two aunts, Virginia Kiefer and Rebecca Patrie; his uncle, Gary Hauser and three cousins, Ricky, Tori and Peter.
